Your Role:
- This is an opportunity to join a fintech startup at an exciting time! The Accounting Specialist will help mature our accounting functions and reporting needs.
- This role will be reporting directly to the FPamp;A Director.
- The Accounting Specialist will have responsibility for the day-to-day accounting activities of our United States amp; Uruguayan entity. The role will scope to grow as the business scales.
This includes but is not limited to:
- Lead the month-end close process, including close of sub-ledgers, journal entries input, accruals, journals and balance sheet reconciliations and the preparation and review of management reports for our US amp; UY entities.
- Manage daily accounting activities including, but not limited to, cash, accounts payable, accruals, trust accounting and Tamp;E.
- Liaise with external tax accountants to ensure completion of tax filings and prepare statutory reporting
- Review bank reconciliations and GL coding.
- Lead Annual Audit process.
- Partner with the business to accurately reconcile accounts, summarize activity, and resolve reconciling differences in a timely manner.
- Build Monthly Reporting and KPIs Dashboard, Actuals vs Budget.
- Research technical accounting (e.g., revenue recognition) guidance.
- Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures, as well as identify new policies and areas of improvement
- Continuously identify and develop solutions for process efficiency to improve operations and productivity.
Requirements
- Educational- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- At least 3-5 years’ experience in Accounting amp; Financials reporting.
- Languages- Fluent English and Spanish.
- US GAAP knowledge (preferable).
- Advanced Excel amp; financial modeling skills. Able to build robust financial models.
- Strong attention to detail with an ability to multi-task.
- Proactive and enthusiastic attitude with a focus on process enhancement
- Strong communication and stakeholders management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
